You could probably do a series of parody 007 trailers and insert clips of a different Palantir leadership team member saying insane shit in interviews as the Bond villain in each one.

You can't accidentally write an article about German energy and not mention solar, wind or renewables once.

So what's going on here? Why intentionally avoid those topics?

Because they are cheap, and nuclear is expensive?

Because they are being shut down politically in the US (and threatened in Germany by Merz) which makes their argument that nuclear is the test of pragmatic government ridiculous?

Do they have investments that mean this is them in sales mode and so lying (not just by omission) is considered okay?

The EU regulations are in many ways built to prevent this kind of free riding, for the sensible reasons that if everyone free rides, aiming for excess profits on the short term, the transition doesn't happen and the Chinese eat your whole market.

I ask the llm what Simon Willison would recommend to ensure I'm using up to date Python approaches.

And so keeping the right wing fossil fuel grift going another few years.

Much better headline for them than "Italy reaps the obvious consequences of not adopting renewables fast enough".

Summary from 2021:

> Gas-reliant Italy lags behind in Europe’s race to renewables

They're adopting nuclear, not renewables.

No, they're "exploring" the possibility of considering it while they just passed a new law to encourage and subsidise gas usage and work around EU carbon markets.

That's assuming the pro-billionaire propaganda it produces doesn't make him many hundreds of millions more.

In that light an arbitrary but vaguely plausible reason to fire anyone who insists on doing actual journalism and not billionaire propaganda is a useful tool.

Though most of the "rare earth" stuff seems to be bullshit based on memes built on not understanding that rare earths aren't rare.

Like the Venezuela oil stuff, it's a half remembered fantasy of what was important when Trump's brain still functioned, several decades ago.

They're destroying America's reputation and alliances for fools gold.

Everyone knows they aren't "that" rare. What's rare is a country willing to poison its environment to extract and refine them. China used to be that, but now they aren't, so the west is looking for friendly nations to replace China.

That's where Ukraine comes in since they have bigger issues right now than environmental concerns and are desperate enough to be easily exploitable by the western powers that used to exploit China when it was weak. It's how it works.

Feels similar in shape to fzf (and similar tools) except normal mode vim keys in the middle of the pipe rather than fuzzy search and ctrl-* for advanced actions
