Teaching kids that they have no right to privacy is a great way to raise people who don't respect the privacy of others.
Parents don't have an inherent right to know every single thing in a child's life. By that token, if a child is gay, and their parents are rabid anti-gay bigots, they still have a "right" to know whether their child is seeking out information relevant to LGBT teens. I'm sorry, but I wholeheartedly reject that premise.
